31DC2014 Day 26: Inspired by a Pattern

Hello there!
I'm so happy I managed to take pictures of my today's manicure and thus catch up on the challenge!

This patter is borrowed from my Etam pajama pants :) It's an easy pattern to recreate, it looks cool and I gave it a little twist by changing the scale of the pattern.
I started with 3 coats of OPI Alpine Snow (yup, back to 3 coats!) and topped them with regular OPI top coat (the purple tinted one) to even and smooth everything out as I was not planning to use top coat on top of my dots. For the dots I used Essie #27 Watermelon and Sally Hansen Triple Shine #200 Pixie Slicks.

Too bag I cant wear these outside so people could actually see what a cool match I made haha!
Once again, I'm so excited to catch up!
Thanks for reading and I will see you tomorrow (I hope)) with yet another manicure!

31DC2014 Day 25: Inspired by Fashion - Denim Nails

Hello there!
For day 25 of 31DC2014 I decided to take an easy way and make denim nails :) I'm not much into fashion to be honest and jeans are what I wear most of the time anyways!

To create this manicure I started with two coats of Morfan Taylor #50093 Rhythm and Blues. It's a pretty blue foil that looks very denim on its own but even more so with a matte top coat!
I freehanded details in white using Golden Rose striping polish and applied copper dots with China Glaze Goldie But Goodie. When that was dry I applied one coat of OPI matte top coat. It did ruin the white details a little bit so I redid them on top of matte top coat.

In general I like how this turned out, it's simpe and cute. Easy to do as well if you are interested! I managed to do it with my non-dominant hand!

31DC2014 Day 24: Inspired by a Book - Breakfast at Tiffany's

Hello there ladies!
I'm one day behind all of you now because when I finished this manicure it was already too dark to shoot. I was planning to catch up today and post two manicures but something came up! I will try to catch up in next couple of days!
This manicure could have been inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany's movie as well!

I started with 2 coats of Rimmel #500 Peppermint and 2 coats of OPI Alpine snow on my ring finger. I added some rhinestones on my middle finger and white dots with dotting tool and Alpine Snow. This accent nails are supposed to represent pearl necklace that Holly wore in the movie.

My ring finger is supposed to be a Tiffany gift box :) I taped the cross off with a sticky tape and applied one coat of Peppermint.

31DC2014 Day 23: Inspired by a Movie - Kill Bill

Hello there!
I'm very excited to share today's manicure with you!

My husband and I revisited both Kill Bill movies couple of weeks ago and that's when I decided I'd do this mani for the challenge!
The polishes I used:

I started with 4 coats of INM Amber and 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow on my index finger. When that was dry I freehanded black stripes using Golden Rose Nail Art black striping polish. On my index finger I applied Milv hieroglyph water decals. And I do realize these are chinese not japanese but what can you do haha. Turns out they are japanese so we are cool now!! :)) I added some blood stains using a cocktail straw and Rimmel #323 Riviera Red nail polish. If you are interested in this technique there are tons of video tutorials online, but basically you just dip the straw into polish and then blow in it! And man was that a messy job!... I used sticky tape around my nails to protect them but it still took quite a bit time to clean everything up! I think it was worth it though and this is one of the best manicures I have ever done!

31DC2014 Day 22: Inspired by a Song - Let It Snow

Hello there ladies!
Dont know what is it but lately I have been missing winter. The snow, holidays, presents haha
So today's manicure represents Let It Snow.

That's a bottle of China Glaze There's Snow One Like You I'm holding! Since I saw this polish for the first time on the internet I wanted to buy it really badly! So today when I came across it at the store I went ahead and bought it and the rushed home to do this mani.
Unfortunately it was already dark when I finished so I had to use a lamp for my pictures which didnt to them any good I think, so I appologize for it.
The polishes I used:

I started with a coat of O.P.I. Alpine Snow on my pinky and thumb just so the cuticle line turns out more crisp and accurate. Then I applied two thin coats of There's Snow One Like You. On my ring finger I applied two coats of Dining Al Frisco and on my index and middle two coats of Dance Legend #342.
For snowflakes I used Milv water decals  from 3 different sheets. I sponged on some Fanta-Sea on index and middle, and also some DL #342 pn my ring finger to create icy frosty look. I finished with one coat of quick dry top coat.

I liked how this turned out and especially my new China Glaze polish! It's just as cool as I imagined it and I cannot wait to use it for more winter holiday manicures!

31DC2014 Day 21: Inspired by a Color - Peacock Nails

Hello there ladies!
As soon as I saw today's topic I knew I wanted to make these peacock nails using Variete #435 Burlesque Vert, which is a close Chanel Peridot dupe, but not a complete dupe I think. From the swatches I have seen Chanel looks more gold, but unfortunately I dont own it to compare the two!

And traditionally, the polishes I used:

I started with two coats of Burlesque Vert and 2 coats of Don't Pretzel My Buttons on my accent nail. Then I freehanded the feather on my ring finger and made the peacock tail pattern (kinda?... haha) on my middle finger using a striping brush and a dotting tool. All done :)

31DC2014 Day 20: Water Marble

Hello there girls!
Can't belive I made it this far into 31 Day Challenge! Probably wouldn't have if it wasnt my vacation!
Here are my water marble nails:

I only did water marble as accent because that was already hard enough for me! As I see it there are two good things about thise manicure: clean-up and smooth, well blended gradient :) This might be the best gradient I ever done!
I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow and then made gradients and water marbles using Sally Hansen XtremeWear #150 Sun Kissed and China Glaze #80931 Sugar High.

31DC2014 Day 19: Galaxy Nails

Hello there!
Here is my take of galaxy nails for 31DC!

I started with 2 coats of OPI Russian Navy. When that was dry I sponged on a bunch of polishes. I tried to pick pastel colours so they show better over dark base and some fine glitters. I also added some white dots and stars. By the time I was done it was already a bit too dark for my phone to take good pictures so please accept my appologies for these being a bit blurry!

31DC2014 Day 18 - Half Moons

Hello there!
Here is my take for half moons day of 31DC2014!

For this manicure I stated with 2 coats of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby. (matte gold) Then I taped half moons off with french manicure stripes and applied one coat of OPI My Private Jet.

I added dots just because I never stop making my manicures better hahaha.
I didnt use any topcoat because I always enjoy some texture mix! I dont really love half moon manicures and this turned out altight I guess but it's not something I'm going to repeat for a special occasion or.. like.. ever! lol. I'm happy however to try out some new things that I wouldnt try out if not for the 31DC!

31DC2014 Day 17: Glitter

Hello there!
For today's nail art I attempted to do my first glitter gradient and I think it worked out!

Now to the polishes I used!

I started with Dance Legend peel-off glitter base just so I dont have horrible time removing my polish later. When that was dry I applied one coat of Chanel #583 Taboo. The polish is extremely pigmented and 100% one-coater. I picked it to match my Shambolic glitter from Butter London and I think they made a perfect match. Shambolic is a delicious mix of purple and lilac shimmer and hex glitters in a navy blue gelly base.
I have tried doing glitter gradient before using the "drag-glitter-polish-with-dry-brush" technique but it never worked for me. But today I thought: just try to sponge it on, you fool! And that worked pretty well, was quick as hell too, like literally 15 seconds per nail! For my thumb, index and middle fingers I applied just one coat of Shambolic over Taboo as the glitter payoff was great! I used 2 coats of Seche Vite for glass and shine. I'm happy that the sun peeked out today when I was taking my pictures.
